Kroustas is situated in an elevated position just a 5 minute drive beyond the bustling village of Kritsa. There are a few local shops, kafeneons and tavernas in Kroustas, as well as some wonderful views down over to the sea. The neighbouring village of Kritsa is a fine example of a typical traditional Cretan village and is the largest village on Crete. As such it is a popular destination for visitors. There are a multitude of colourful shops selling traditional handicrafts and souvenirs, as well as a great selection of kafeneons, tavernas, bars and local shops. There is also a bank, doctor's surgery and schools and the village is well served by public transport, with a regular bus service to and from Aghios Nikolaos. The nearest beach is within 10kms.
