Sternes is a charming, traditional village situated on the Akrotiri peninsula of Chania, with outstanding views towards the Bay of Souda and White Mountains of Crete. Although a peaceful and exclusive area, it is easily accessible being only 12 kilometers from the historic City of Chania, 10 mins from the international airport and twenty minutes from the port of Souda. The area is an ideal place to relax and unwind, and has a school, shops, mini markets and tavernas nearby.

The Akrotiri Peninsula features some of the most beautiful and clean sandy beaches of Chania offering water sports activities, including well-known Stavros, where Zorbas the Greek was filmed, Kalathas and Tersanas beaches, all on the north coast. Kalathas beach is a beautiful sandy beach lined with pine trees and a small islet at swimming distance and features cafes and traditional tavernas. Tersanas is another fine sandy beach with shallow waters suitable for children.
